Periscope

This is one of my favorite new apps, if you can't really be there you can watch it live.  This app allows you to follow your favorites, your school, or businesses and watch important things as they unfold.  For my High School we have really jumped on board with students signing Scholarships and other big events that everyone can enjoy.  You have to option of watching it live and or going back to it which I really like.  If is a free app and you can follow as many or as few as you like, you can also go live and share your current situation with others that are following you.

Determined

After a few busy years, I have decided to get back to this Blog.  I have always enjoyed learning but I really enjoy Technology with learning.  Today I have made a commitment that I will do a few post a week because I have learned so many different neat apps that I want to share.  I am also using this blog for me to keep an organized list of the things I come across teaching.  When I originally started this idea, I somehow thought I would have time to add post often, but now I will.  I have installed the Blogger App from Google on my ipad and iphone so now i can do it from those devices instead of just my computer.  So here is to my keeping up with this and being able to organize my learning.

Canva

This application is my new favorite... And yes I say that a lot. I actually just learned about the app BC my students are completing a project where they are creating their own board games with the math content that we have learned.  This app creates posters in minutes.  My students are using this app for the top of their game boxes.  I am going to use this app to create posters for my classroom that I can customize for my own classroom. I am excited with how easy it seems to make and print posters.
I think this app is even better than PowerPoint or Word bc of how fast we can create a poster.  I know that the designing software has more options and would give more creative opportunity, but I love that this app is fast and quick.  This app also has a website www.canva.com and yet again the BEST part is this is a free app!  Happy Designing ❤️!

Join Me

I love this application and the convenience of being able to look at a computer screen and not anywhere near that computer.  As a math teacher, I think there are a hundred ways to use this one.  I have used this with colleagues that were not in the same building, and I have shown my students this and I am hope they will be able to use this.  On a personal note, I did use it with my son one day to help in fill out a form, so if you have college age children this could be useful.
I think that using this with the iPad or iPhone could have great use as well.  Especially long distance fixes.   This app is free and when you use it one person just sends another a code for the two devices to connect, I was able to use this and actually talk by iPhone to my colleague and it was literally like we were in the same room.  Have fun exploring with this one. And again IT IS FREE!

Sharing APP "Celly"

So I just learned of an app called "celly" and it allows you to do a group message without sharing your cell phone number. So for teaching HS that is a plus.  The app allows the curator to set up all approved messages, or allows free messsages, there is picture capablity as well as taking poll for voting.  I have you used the Remind App for several years and while this one will not  replace Remind, it does allow a feature that my students can ask questions and I can respond to them.  I will use this app to comminicate with my students in sharing information, about deadlines and assginments.  I have also used this app for the National Honor Society that I sponsor for our school.  It can keep everyone informed and all members of the "cell" can see what the group is saying.

I think that we will enjoy this app and the ability to get information out to a large crowd of people.  I think this has many advantages to the classroom but also for informing large groups of individuals about important information.  Just a few I can think of would be for Wedding Parties, Events and Special Occasions, Sick Relative updates, or just a group message for family members.  I have not yet found anything that I do not like about the app but as I use it, I will update my opinion on this App.  I asked several of my HS math students if they liked it and they overwhelming said yes!
and the BEST PART - IT IS FREE!

I LOVE Technology

I have been teaching HS Math for 25 years, I have always loved technology but the thing that got me into technology in the classroom is my own son.  He is 17 now but a few years ago, I was watching him with a smartphone, Ipad, and PlayStation game all at the same time.  I began thinking about my own students, how can i keep their attention.  I mean why would they want to listen to me talk about math when they it takes three devices at the same time to hold their attention.  I decided that day to make an HUGE effort to engage my students with something more than pencil and paper.  I have been struggling with how to keep up with all my fun cool tech apps and websites so I decided to create this blog.  I am also trying interactive notebooks in my classroom so I have another blog that I am going to try and keep up with as well, that blog is KnowMooreMath.  Please give me suggestions of what has worked for you and what are your favorite apps and websites as well,
